Summary
Matt Scull is an apprentice surveyor who is about to witness the culmination of the Walking Treaty of 1737. Six men will walk for a day and a half to determine the amount of land that the Lenape tribe will give to Thomas Penn, the proprietor of the Pennsylvania colony. Three of the walkers are white settlers and three belong to the Lenape tribe. Matt befriends Combush, one of the tribesmen, and they quickly begin to see that this walk is not completely unbiased. Matt will soon see just how far his people will go to take away as much of the Lenape's land as they can
